JUNE!!! I love this month! And not just because two my most favorite days of the year are celebrated in June: birthday and Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year. WooHoo! Can you tell I love, love, LOVE summer!!! Everything about it makes me happy. Lazy sunny days by the pool, summer reads, friend and family visits, balmy nights, patio dining, BBQs with neighbors, Frappuccinos, bare feet, midnight walks with Nelson. It all makes me giddy with joy. And June means it is only the beginning!!!
Now that May is behind us, the last full month of spring, it is time to list my running stats. Today’s Running Tip: Opting out of a race!
Even though you might feel like a Loser, there is absolutely no shame in opting out of a race you had trained for! Listen to your body and follow your instincts, especially if you are a seasoned runner. A beginner might just be feeling the jitters of the unknown, but an experienced runner will be able to tell the difference between pre race jitters and total fatigue. Scale back and tell yourself there will always be a next race to run.
